Rich Vs. Poor Is Not The Right Debate - Forbes.com

America needs to start asking serious questions about its future. Do we continue to treat the speculators and the value creators the same way? Does the same tax code apply to these two classes of people? Does free-market capitalism indeed suffice to restrain the destructive power of these Madoffian devils?

interesting piece in forbes ... shifting the debate from rich vs. poor to value creators vs. speculators.

does microsoft know what it is doing as it is offering to pay for news?

i haven't much cared about the whole search engine / news fights. in a way it was inevitable that the news/media industry would get desperate to find new ways to make money and search engines were a good target. now that it looks like microsoft is seeing this as a way to compete with google (by paying for news content to be searched in bing) i am wondering if redmond knows what it is doing? now i am not so much worried about news since i rarely use search engines to find news. general news or media stories are a bit different. but what companies will want to follow suit? photos, videos, music ... bloggers. at one point search engines might have to pay for any content that they search through and once that happens they will look back at 2009 and the decisions that were made, mostly up in redmond.

when will bing get rid of the stupid background photos?

every now and then i am giving bing a try. just to see how it compares to google. but i have to say that the big background photos that bing has annoy me. why can't they just have a plain screen?

the ecstatic by mos def ... my album of the year

for those out there that need ideas for christmas gifts for a hip hop fan i can recommend mos def's 2009 album the ecstatic. this is most certainly the album of the year and likely mos def's best. the intelligence and melodies of this album remind me of the late '80s hip hop albums when hip hop was still innovative. in today's mostly bland music circus this album certainly stands out with latin and arab melodies mixed into fun raps. great album ... love it.
